About Pranayama & Meditation
Pranayama (breathwork) and meditation are two of the most powerful tools to improve our mental, emotional and physical health.
Every aspect of life is affected by the breath. Breathing influences everything from our nervous system to the pineal glands and the flow of hormones in the blood. Pranayama practices induce tranquillity, clarity of thought and concentration. They help to clear difficult emotions, and purify and regulate the entire Pranic system, Nadis and Chakras. As prana flows freely through our system, vitality improves at all levels.
Meditation, awareness or mindfulness is the practice of living skillfully and gently. It helps us to hear, know, understand, and live, our true Self. Explored by the world's wisdom traditions as well as Western sciences, including medicine and psychology, mindfulness and meditation are universal tools for cultivating self-understanding and healing.
Benefits of Pranayama & Meditation:
- Studies on meditation show mental benefits like stress reduction, better sleep, clearer thinking, emotional regulation as well as physical benefits like pain relief and a boost to the immune system.
- The development of sensitivity to our breath and mind supports self-development, helping us to be alert to thought patterns – conscious and unconscious – so that we can understand ourselves at a deeper level.
- “Pranayama is a panacea for all imbalances. When the balance in the autonomic nervous system is restored, the root causes of many diseases are tackled and over a period of time removed.” Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati
- Through Pranayama we learn to influence and moderate prana, helping us to become a highly charged energetic system
- Regular practice helps our normal breath, our ‘unconscious breath’, to become more stable, providing greater energy moment to moment. Improving our body, mind, mood, and energy levels. To breathe well is to live well.
In This Course You Will Learn:
- Pranayama techniques, how to direct and calm the mind through meditation, and also increase awareness of your Pranic or Energy body.
- To build energy in your system through breathwork, as well as better manager your energy.
- To go deeper into understanding how the astral body, especially the chakras, relate to the physical body and the mind.
- Concepts of subtle anatomy; prana vayus (prana, apana, vyana, udana, samana); surya/chandra (sun/moon); koshas (5 layers of being)
- How to integrate and apply mindfulness meditation in your everyday life, and the range of challenges arising from everyday life stresses.
- To strengthen mindfulness-based self-regulatory skills and tap into your inherent internal resources.
- To cultivate both “formal” and “informal” mindfulness meditation practices as a foundation for positive health, and psychological and emotional resilience that can be effectively realised across the adult life span.
